IS IT WORTH IT?: Pur Cosmetics Sculptor Highlighting & Contouring Palette

July 30, 2018

I haven’t done an Is It Worth It? review on any recent products in a while, so I decided to review the Pur Cosmetics Sculptor Highlighter and Contour Palette! This was requested by one of my followers, and I’ve been putting it to the test for the past few months. It was part of the May Boxycharm.

I’ve had a mixed experience with Pur products. I really love the eyeshadow palettes they have come out with and their highlighters, but the blush and bronzer I have in a different palette are too glittery for me. I also had an issue with the Hydrafluid Water Serum Foundation, because it made my skin peel and dry out. Needless to say I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the palette.

The packaging is really sleek and simple, although I wish it were a little more heavy duty, because when I was traveling to Italy the mirror shattered in my bag on the way there. You get 2 contour shades and 2 highlight shades for $30.00, and the pan size of each is very large.

Apart from the packaging, the formula of both the highlighter and contour powder is great. It’s very pigmented and buttery, so you only need a little bit. The only issue I have is the shades in the palette don’t really correlate. The highlighters are extremely light, where the lightest shade actually is too ashy on my cheeks and creates a grey cast, so I usually wear the darker highlight shade. The contour powders are a little too dark, and sometimes can be muddy on me if I put on too much. If I were able to, I would suggest to the Pur that they make a few copies of this palette with different skin tones in mind (a light, medium, and dark version), so everyone has the ability to wear the highlighters and contour colors with no issues.

Overall, the formula really makes the palette. It’s very easy to work with and blend, and is compact to travel with. I find myself reaching for it a lot, even though I need to be careful with not using too much of the contour shade. The Pur Cosmetics Sculptor Highlight and Contour Palette is worth it.

I hope you found this post helpful! Please let me know if you want a review of anymore products. Thank you so much for reading and follow my blog for more beauty insight!

I hated this palette. The highlighters are great and the shades of the contours are great for my medium dark skin. What I had trouble with is the formula. It looked so patchy and just wouldn’t blend out no matter what brush or how little product I used. It was really frustrating! Glad it works for you though.

I couldn’t even use it because of how pale I am, the contours are WAAAAY to dark for me unfortunately 😩

That’s my only complaint really… I’m on the fair side and just need to use a light hand!

Totally agree that it would be great if they made light/medium/dark versions! I’m on the fair spectrum, and you really have to be familiar with contouring to use this because the shades are so dark. I feel like it’s great for skin tones that fall in the middle of the rainbow. With that said, I love the formula too and the finishes are really pretty, I just have to go in with a really light hand!
