IS IT WORTH IT?: Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Bling Boss Eyeshadow Palette

April 30, 2019

A few weeks ago, I asked if any of you wanted to see any posts in particular. I had a lot of requests for reviews, and I felt like this one would be very beneficial! Morphe is featured online, and also in Ulta, and because Jaclyn Hill has such a large following, I thought many people might be interested in learning more about the ‘Bling Boss’ palette!

The palettes come in the larger Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Vault, which is $49.00 on Morphe’s website. You can also buy the palettes individually for $15.00. Today, I will be focusing on ‘Bling Boss’, since that was the specific palette I had the most questions on!

A little background information on the collection as a whole. Jaclyn created these palettes using shadows she decided not to use in her original palette. They stayed in the “vault” and she used them to create smaller palettes more tailored to a specific color range. The ‘Bling Boss’ palette includes berry , champagne pink, and purple shades. I would say the palette is on the cooler side, as there are two cool and two warm palettes within collection.

The texture of the shadows is not as consistent with her other palette. I think her matte shades are more smooth in her original palette, but the foiled shades are highly pigmented, and probably what I tend to gravitate towards the most. My favorite shades to use are ‘Bling Bling’, ‘Hush Hush’, ‘Rockstar’, and ‘Berry Treasure’. The shades are very flattering on many skin tones, as I have used them on a ton of friends for different events. They allow for a lot of versatility, without looking too bright.

Below are the names of the shadows within the palette:

Top Row (Left to Right): ‘Bling Bling’, ‘Hush Hush’, ‘Gem’, ‘Pizzazz’, ‘Mystic’

Bottom Row (Left to Right): ‘Sparks’, ‘Glitz & Glam’, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Ballsy’, ‘Berry Treasure’

Overall, I really like the set up of the palette. I think the colors go together cohesively to allow for a lot of versatility, and I really like the large mirror for travel. I’m going to go ahead and say the ‘Bling Boss’ Palette in the Jaclyn x Morphe Vault Collection is worth it. However, I think if you invest in a lot of eyeshadow palettes already, you may not need to pick up this one. I probably have a lot of similar colors in other palettes, and I don’t know if the color pay off is the best in these. Specifically, the matte shades aren’t the best. Of the four palettes in the collection, I would put this one at 3rd on my list, if you were to purchase them separately from the collection.

It seems like such a lovely palette. Too bad it did not work out.

I would be interested in seeing the other palettes in this set reviewed! I was very close to buying the vault just because they appealed to me, but then held back when there was such a mixture of reviews online. I really wanted the dark magic palette! Great review 😀
