I’m back with a monthly skin update. I’ve been feeling a little discouraged this past month, but from what I here, it’s very normal for skin to look not so great in the first few months of being on Accutane.
My prescription was doubled, which is normal for my age and weight. Based on my blood work, and how my skin looked, I probably will need to get up to around 80 to 90 mg. At the moment, I’m staying at 60 mg. I will continue to get blood work every month, as long as I continue to increase the dosage. Because I doubled my dosage, I now take one pill twice a day. I usually take one in the morning and one at night.
It’s been really hard for me to feel my best. My skin has become more dry, and all the acne has been rising to the surface. I discussed with my doctor and she told me that most patients see a positive change between months 2 and 3, so I’m going to try to be patient and wait for a change! I’ve been using all the products I mentioned in my Skincare Routine post, to minimize dryness and protect my skin from the sun.
As I said before, it’s been really hard for me to show my skin without makeup on. However, I feel it’s really beneficial for everyone to see progress photos! My skin currently on a scale of 1-10, 1 being mild acne, and 10 being the most severe I’ve ever had is around a 6. As you can see, I have some cystic acne around my cheeks, on my chin, and it goes down my neck as well.
Feel free to ask any questions in the comments below. I am by no means an expert, but I can share any information I have about Accutane so far. I can also ask my doctor if there is a particular question I cannot answer! Be sure to consult your own doctor if you are considering going on Accutane. They are your best reference point. Thank you so much for reading. Be sure to follow my blog for more updates on my Accutane journey, and of course follow for more beauty insight!
