I’m still in the depths of my Accutane journey, so I’m back with another skin update for the month of September. At this point, I’ve noticed gradual changes in my skin, and I’m starting to finally see the results I was looking for. My doctor did increase my dosage from 60mg to 80mg. I now take two 40mg pills twice a day. The only issue that came up after she read the results from my blood work was my triglyceride levels were high. However, this isn’t uncommon for those on Accutane. I also was not surprised because I have a history of medications affecting my triglyceride levels. It was recommended that I start taking Omega-3’s, so I purchased some on Amazon as a supplement!
The biggest change I’ve noticed has been the overall texture of my skin. Although the redness has not gone down a ton, the acne is changing into scars, which will minimize over time. They are flat on my skin, and very easy to cover with makeup! I am hoping this is the real turning point for me, and I will only see positive results from here! Seeing my skin get worse in August was really discouraging, but now at this point I can see the changes, and it has made me so hopeful about the rest of my Accutane process.
As always my progress photos are below. The lighting has changed because I recently moved into my new apartment. I will continue to take my monthly photo updates from this vantage point, so it’s easy to compare for the remainder of the time I am on Accutane.
Feel free to ask any questions in the comments below. I am by no means an expert, but I can share any information I have about Accutane so far. I can also ask my doctor if there is a particular question I cannot answer! Be sure to consult your own doctor if you are considering going on Accutane. They are your best reference point! Thank you so much for reading. Be sure to follow my blog for more updates on my Accutane journey, and of course follow for more beauty insight!
