I’m so happy I’ve finally hit the halfway mark for the average time spent on Accutane! Most spend about 6 months on the medication, so getting through month 3 was really exciting! My skin is healing more and more every day. My skin texture feels very soft, and all the cystic acne is gone. Basically leaving me with small acne, or flat scars. With the guidance of my doctor, I decided last month to stay at 80mg. This way, I don’t have to get any more blood work done. My triglyceride levels went down significantly, with the help of the Omega-3’s! All this information is very promising, because my skin is still responding well to the medication, but I do not have to worry about any adverse side effects.
It’s really encouraging that other people are starting to notice how much my skin has improved. Friends and family have been telling me how great it looks. For me, this is just an added bonus. The real success is that my skin doesn’t hurt anymore. Cystic acne can be really painful, so not having that as an added stress in my life has been so amazing. My only complaint is that my skin is still very dry, specifically my lips. I apply as much chapstick as I can, but it’s just a constant issue. However, it’s a very small problem to have in the grand scheme of things!
As always my progress photos are below. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments. I am by no means an expert, but I can share any information I have about Accutane so far. I can also ask my doctor if there is a particular question I cannot answer. Be sure to consult your own doctor if you are considering going on Accutane. They are your best reference point! Thank you so much for reading. Be sure to follow my blog for more updates on my Accutane journey, and of course follow for more beauty insight!
